I was introduced to Jim through the Faculty of Music at Falmouth University. I am a complete novice, and Jim's introduction to Grade 1 Music Theory was clear, methodical, and above all, comprehensible. I have been a student of Jim’s for many years. He is excellent for both new and experienced players. He is patient and knowledgeable and willing to put in time and effort to move students’ skills onwards. I came to Jim after years of not getting very far. I have now improved so much that I can play some grade 7 piano pieces and have decided to move into my ABRSM grade 5 this year. He is really supportive and supplements my practical lessons with theory where needed which I find very useful. He tailors lessons to my interests and is always looking for new ways to help me make progress.
